A Federal-style row home with a relaxed, Scandinavian feel

Lincoln Park

Embracing the whimsical concept of “Coastal Grandma Marries a Swedish Professor,” this project fuses coastal charm with Scandinavian simplicity. While our clients aren’t grandparents or professors, nor do they live by the sea or hail from Sweden, this imaginative concept perfectly captured their vision for a space that feels layered and welcoming.

The transformation honors the home’s original character while maximizing its compact footprint. An arched opening between the kitchen and dining area improves light and flow, and custom built-ins and clever storage solutions enhance functionality. Swapping out a bulky fireplace for a sleek gas unit expanded the living space without sacrificing charm. Personal touches—a cherished chandelier, curated art, and a mix of materials in a warm color palette—bring the vision to life, harmoniously blending coastal warmth with Swedish minimalism.
