Artful living in a Colonial Revival

Bethesda

This 1950s Colonial Revival was ready for its next chapter: a space where a busy family of five could live comfortably, surrounded by color and art. Every detail—from the bold patterns in the powder room to the plaster fireplace—was chosen to reflect their love of art that emphasizes form and structure. The dining room became a gallery of its own, with custom millwork to showcase curated ceramics, a custom walnut table, and vintage mid-century chairs that nod to the home’s era.

We embraced a palette of blues, maroons, and golds, drawing from the tones in their paintings and pottery. Clean lines and layered textures—wool, velvet, oak, walnut, and glass—create a backdrop that feels thoughtful yet livable. It celebrates their artistic spirit, balancing sophistication with a sense of welcome and ease.
